Solganick Cybersecurity M&A Update – 1H 2026
The following is a summary of the report:
- In 1H 2026, M&A transaction activity for cybersecurity companies totaled 209 deals, consistent with the same period last year (210). The year started strongly with 114 deals in 1Q26, up significantly from the prior year quarter (96) before moderating in 2Q26.
- Strategic buyers executed several major transactions in 1H 2026, including deals such as Dragos (plus runZero and NetRise)/Accenture ($4.175B), SGNL/CrowdStrike ($740M), Seraphic Security/CrowdStrike ($420M), Astrix Security/Cisco ($400M), Koi/Palo Alto Networks ($400M), LayerX/Akamai ($205M), and Entro/SailPoint ($200M).
- Infrastructure, Risk Management, and Application constituted the largest sub-sectors of M&A activity. Notable buyer priorities included securing, discovering, and governing autonomous AI agents and strengthening identity threat detection and management capabilities to encompass human, non-human, and AI agent identities.
- Global venture funding for cybersecurity vendors reached $10.6 billion in 1H 2026, up from $10.4 billion in 1H 2025. Total funding rounds reached 501 in 1H 2026, down from 602 in 1H 2025. Despite lower volume, there were several sizeable rounds, including Cyera ($600M), NinjaOne ($400M), Tenex.AI ($250M), and Upwind Security ($250M).
- Valuation multiples for publicly traded cybersecurity companies ranged from a median of 9.4x EV/2026E revenue for high-growth vendors (those growing more than 20%) to a median of 3.8x EV/2026E revenue for low-growth vendors (those growing less than 10%).
